SkyRanger awarded 'safe to operate' certification by UK Ministry of Defence

Marlborough Communications Ltd (MCL), is pleased to announce that SkyRanger, the next-generation small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) produced by Aeryon Labs and available through MCL has passed assessments deeming it ‘Safe to Operate’ by the Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA).

The TAA certification provides the UK MOD with assurance that Commercial-Off-the-Shelf and Military-Off-the-Shelf systems meet the specifications set out by the Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Having passed the assessment, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued the industry-leading system with TAA certification. The tests were based on verification and validation processes laid out by the UK MOD and ensure the suitability of the sUAS for military use. The ‘safe to operate’ assessment means that the SkyRanger is now approved for military use.

The next-generation sUAS, available, improves on the leading capabilities of the SCOUT, another of Aeryon’s sUAS products to provide increased flight time, dual EO/IR payload, HD video and extended flight range. The touch screen flight control interface and autonomous flight control software ensure reliable flight performance in harsh and dynamic environments, producing exceptional ease of operation.

Mark Harbin, Business Development Manager at Marlborough Communications Limited, commented: “The SkyRanger is an industry-leading system and we are delighted that it has received TAA safe to operate status. We are committed to bringing world-class technology from the best global manufacturers to the UK and the SkyRanger is a welcome addition to our unmanned system product line.”
