In honour of International Women’s Day, Defence Discount Service has launched a campaign to celebrate the achievements and efforts of women working within the armed forces. The four-week campaign will look to crown the Inspirational Woman in Defence 2021, with the British defence community invited to nominate the women they believe deserve to take home the crown.
The competition is open to those working in all areas of defence, including serving armed forces, reserve forces, MoD civil servants and NATO Personnel Serving in the UK.
Entries will be open from Monday 08 March and will close on Monday 29 March, with participants invited to send their nominations along with a few lines about why they believe their chosen person should win, to marketing@defencediscountservice.co.uk.
Defence Discount Service is the official MoD discount service for the British armed forces, veterans and defence community, offering its members access to exclusive discounts for free online through the website.
Explaining more about the importance of the campaign, Tom Dalby, CEO of Defence Discount Service, said: “Since our launch in 2012, we have worked closely with the UK defence community, offering support both through our exclusive discounts from fantastic brand partners and by providing a community where British armed forces, veterans, spouses and defence workers can come together.
“We know how hard our UK defence teams work each and every day to keep us all safe, but we thought International Women’s Day was the perfect opportunity to celebrate those women who have gone the extra mile over the past year. We’d encourage all members of the defence community - whether male or female - to nominate their inspirational women and join us in celebrating all their hard work.”
The winning Defence Discount Service Inspirational Woman in Defence will be announced on 9th April 2021, with the winner set to receive a £250 gift card from Virgin Experience Days.
