The design development of the recently awarded contract worth ₹6,311.32 crore (~800 M€) for the construction of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASWSWCs) to M/s Cochin Shipyard Ltd. (CSL) by Indian Navy will be a joint collaboration effort between CSL, M/s Smart Engineering & Design Solutions (India) Private Ltd. of India (SEDS) and DA-Group subsidiary Surma Ltd., Finland (Surma). In what is to be one of the most technologically advanced naval combatant platforms to be commissioned by the Indian Navy, the design will have features only found in other naval powerhouses. The vessel design shall be collaboratively developed by SEDS & CSL, with SEDS doing the basic part and CSL the rest.
